Every time there is a story on the Huffington Post about the downturn in the economy, increase in unemployment, a stupid bill, political corruption… any of these types of stories… the comments section is flooded with an immediate deluge of anti-Obama, anti-Democratic comments. I noticed in an unofficial capacity that this phenomena has been increasing over the past few months.
I can’t help but wonder “why”? I mean, trolls are trolls. You cannot avoid trolling on any website. And I’m sure plenty of right-leaning sites get their fair share of leftist trolls. I have even seen a troll or two on the racist websites, like Stormfront. But when the trolls out-number the regular subscribers, what is going on?
“All men are intellectuals, one could therefore say: but not all men have in society the function of intellectuals.*” ~ Antonio Gramsci
” * Thus, because it can happen that everyone at some time fries a couple of eggs or sows up a tear in a jacket, we do not necessarily say that everyone is a cook or a tailor.“
I will be discussing this in the near future.
I am currently redesigning this site from the ground up. I will be back shortly to elaborate on whatever I so desire in the very near future.
Please be patient as I am literally coding this entire site on piece at a time.
Today I gassed up my Land Rover at ARCO, a BP subsidiary, and used my Citibank card to pay for the gas. I drove to the pet store to buy cat food for 5 cents more per can than I usually pay, which I put on my Citibank card. I then proceeded to go to 16 different stores to purchase items for a higher price than usual, and charged them on my Citibank and Chase cards at 18.9% interest. I did all this to boycott Target for their indiscretion in supporting a Minnesota Republican who is an evangelical asshole. And, even though there is record unemployment, I hope Target takes such a loss in profits that they have to start laying off employees. I have to show these corporations that they cannot control my life.
This is the same reason I take my SUV to Whole Foods. I reuse my $2 plastic shopping bags and buy eco friendly products manufactured by Coca Cola because I care about the environment. I spend a lot of money on these products that are conscious consumables. Every time I shop, I even donate a dollar to the poor black farmer on the poster by the register. And because I do this, I don’t know who these other people are that are constantly in my way in the store. Sometimes I actually have to use my elbow to shove them out of my way. And the homeless people outside are such a bother. They need to get out of my way. These homeless people are not contributing to the poor farmers of the Amazon. They are always standing on the corner when I go by in my BMW, looking all sad and dirty, asking for money to get high, or drunk, so they can momentarily forget that society has given up on them.
